As artists based in New York City, we, Momo (Yameng Ji) of Psychhhands, are deeply committed to exploring themes of sustainability, the beauty of imperfection, and the depth of emotional interactions through our art. We use unconventional materials such as kiwi peels and coffee grounds, transforming them into evocative pieces that prompt reflection on our environmental and emotional footprints. The Cycle Of Existence (2023-2024)

In a graceful marriage of tradition and innovation, this creation features a harmonious blend of ostrich and chicken eggshells, meticulously set into the cracks and crevices of the ceramic using the kintsugi method. The contrasting textures and colors of the eggshells add a unique depth and narrative to the piece, celebrating the philosophy that there is beauty in imperfection and reverence in restoration.

The Body From Nature (2023)

The Body From Nature is a recent project that showcases the ancient technique of Urushi, also known as Chinese lacquer or Japanese lacquer. The project emphasizes the traditional way of making tablewares using body from nature, such as skin or shell from consumed fruits or vegetables. This unique approach highlights the beauty and sustainability of natural materials in creating functional objects.

Contrasting with Red and Black (2023)

In this piece of Kintsugi repair, we finish the surface with layers of red and black urushi to address the missing part of the bowl. We sand down the layers of urushi and leave it with a contrasting and vividly finish.
